FiOS NHL Center Ice!!

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

I was checking for the World Series tonight (it's been postponed until tomorrow) and I was filtering channels by Sports. Meaning I was jump channeling up continuously through all the sports channels. And there it was... an empty channel with the subtitle of NHL Center Ice.

What?!?

I checked FiOS for the cost of the package and only saw in a few Verizon forums that indeed Center Ice was coming to FiOS. I then found this:
NEW YORK, Oct 28, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- For die-hard hockey fans there is no such thing as watching too much hockey. Verizon is helping these fans get even more hockey programming by adding NHL Center Ice to the FiOS TV lineup. Also, Verizon will launch the NHL Network in the coming days.

NHL Center Ice is a subscription sports package that includes up to 40 out-of-market NHL games per week and select games from the first two rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. As an added bonus, Verizon will broadcast select NHL Center Ice games in high definition (HD). The price is $169 for the entire season.

...

Talk about crazy timing! It all went down today as I just happened to bump into it. $169 for the entire season is a little pricey, but with the ability to DVR stuff and the NHL Network before said it was HD for us and it just wasn't... this is a super awesome deal.
