My summer reading is long over and now I am into my pre-Fall reading, however my current essential reading is on my desk to me left, ready for quick inspection. These books are by far my favorites at the moment. I like livedocs, but if ever an AS3 Reference Dictionary becomes available (even if I have to buy it in volumes), that will sit beside these babies.

“This is so freakin' weird man.

Just this morning, there I was sitting at my desk thinking to myself "Self, you need to brush up on AS3 if you want to stay on top of things. I wonder which books I should grab for the occasion."

And you delivered! Thanks dude.

Also, What book would you suggest for starting with Design Patterns? To tell you the truth I had no concept of Design Patterns until this morning's conversation with an old mentor of mine.”

“Same books here. The FriendsofEd books are by my desk here at work, and the EAS3 and Head First book are by my desk at home.”

“I second "Head First - Design Patterns". It's on my shelf as well. I'm just now reading "Actionscript 3 - Design Patterns". I've only gotten to chapter 2, but it does a great job of explaining how some known patterns can be implemented in AS3.
