I have an Xbox sitting in the basement gathering dust. Along with a Halo2 custom headset, Airport Express dedicated just for the unit, a bunch of controllers and a box of games. Every now and then I fire up Halo 2. With Halo 3 around the corner, I'm chomping at getting a 360.

Why? For Halo 3. Honestly. And Gears of War looks pretty awesome. However I have gone into BestBuy a few times and I couldn't believe how awful the load times were. For even simple things. The blades interface seems easy to bump yoursef out of by mistake (not a big concern). However the 33% failure rates and the load times concern me. Is it stupid to get a console for a single game? I know Microsuck is counting on that.

“I wouldn't buy a 360 just for Halo 3, but when you add Gears, Project Gotham Racing, Call of Duty 4 (definitely skip 3), and the Xbox Live Arcade, it's a solid buy.

Then, setup Connect360 on your Mac, and now I've got a bunch of music & movies all available from my remote control.”

“[ I commented on this through Plaxo, but apparently that doesn't make it here? This is what I wrote: ]

Yes, it's stupid, but I have done not only that myself, I also once got a $400 video card for my PC just so I could play Half Life 2!

I also have the original XBOX sitting in a closet (not that dusty, though). I salivate every time I see a PS3, XBOX360 or a Wii sitting on the pallets at Costco. For me the game that might just pull me across the line is Grand Theft Auto IV. I've played pretty much all the games in that series -- no other game is that much fun imho
